![]() ![]() Follow the track until you pass over a small footbridge, bringing you back into White Coppice. As you continue forwards you’ll reach another stile with a horse enclosure to your right and meandering stream to your left. Go ahead but keeping to the left of a field, you’ll go past a small tarn on the left. Turn right but look for a footpath sign that will appear soon on the left. Bear right to reach a stile and through to an area of open land to eventually reach Higher House lane.ĩ. Follow an oblivious track and a deep descent through an area of woodland. Often you can see across to Blackpool from the summit.Ĩ. There should also be a smaller track ahead of you, take this route which will allow you to emerge through Healey Wood and to a quarry. At the top you’ll notice another bridleway to the left and right. Keep to the very right of the field as you climb up and remember to look back on yourself for fantastic views, spotting the reservoir and old Waterman’s Cottage.ħ. This can be really dangerous so don’t take the risk until you are confident.Ħ. Please keep your dog on a lead here as there may be livestock in the field and due to the summit you can’t see them. Take this steep climb up some stone steps until you reach a stile.ĥ. After a short distance you will see a footpath on the left. Cross the road to the path so the reservoir is on your left. Follow the bridleway for about a mile, you’ll pass enclosed fields to your right with livestock until you eventually descend down onto Moor Road – dogs back on lead for this bit.Ĥ. Cross the small bridge over theGgoit and instead of heading up to the viewpoint take the immediate right which is a bridleway and allow your dog to roam free.ģ. In the spring it is a blaze of colour with bluebells, wood anemone and wild garlic. Sallow Coppice may once have been dominated by willow trees and coppiced (the stems cut off regularly) to produce withies for fencing, hurdles or even coracle making! Today, the trees are mostly sweet chestnut, silver birch, wild cherry and sycamore. Over the stile and turn left through the mature woods. ![]() The cache is hidden at: N 52 26.087 + (2 * A) W 2 50.800 + (2 * A)ĭo not walk in a direct line to the cache because you will be confronted by a fence, so follow the footpath along the hedgeline to the corner of the field where there is a stile. You should only count the W's carved into the finger posts. Count the number of times the letter W is formally carved on the FINGER POSTS – (not the stile) count slowly and be sure to check all sides. The coordinates ARE NOT for the cache but for a signpost along the route to the cache. Out of hours on road parking is also available here. The car park is locked at 18:00 in summer and winter. The recommended Car Park is the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre just off the A49 in Craven Arms. ![]()
